Die Corporate Sustainability Responsibility Directive (CSRD) stellt Euch vor neue Herausforderungen? Die Berichtspflicht wird Realität und…
ith the EUDR, the European Union is setting a new benchmark for trade in products linked to deforestation. The regulation requires companies to ensure that their supply chain does not contribute to deforestation and forest degradation. Regulatory challenges and a new form of supplier management are on the horizon.
Many companies are currently looking for EUDR consulting to better understand the regulation’s complex requirements with external support and implement them in a structured way.
In this article, we share our know-how from over 700 ESG matchings for SMEs and corporations and, with our market overview, help you choose the EUDR consulting that suits you!
Would you like to dive deeper into the topic of EUDR consulting? Then you’ll find all the relevant information here. Alternatively, you can start our free matching right away to identify exactly the providers that fit your individual requirements:
Let’s first clarify the current situation: The EUDR already entered into force on 29 June 2023 – along with the obligation to submit initial reports by 30 December 2024. However, on 04 December 2024, a final decision was made to extend the deadline by one year.
Large companies therefore have until 30 December 2025 to fully implement the EUDR requirements. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be affected by the reporting obligation from 30 June 2026 onwards. The EUDR is not part of the EU Omnibus regulations.
So things are getting serious now if you manufacture or trade in EUDR-relevant products. The following aspects will be coming your way over the next few years:
Due diligence obligations (Due Diligence) and risk assessment
Companies must demonstrate that the products or raw materials they trade in are deforestation-free. Accordingly, potential risks along the supply chain must be identified and measures taken to minimize these risks.
Traceability
The EUDR requires disclosure of the origin of raw materials. This also requires that exact GPS data for the cultivation areas be made transparent.
Detailed reporting
Companies are required to document all measures, risks, and required information. Based on this, reports must be prepared regularly and forwarded to the competent authorities.
Non-compliance with the EUDR entails severe penalties and sanctions. Companies therefore need a high level of responsibility, transparency, and precision when managing and analyzing their supply chains. The Federal Office for Agriculture and Food provides deeper insights into the EUDR here. To manage all requirements precisely, it makes sense to seek the support of external experts or EUDR tool solutions.
Tip: With our “EUDR compliance check“, you will receive a first assessment free of charge as to whether you are affected by the EUDR.
For companies, the EUDR not only means new regulatory challenges, but also the opportunity to strengthen sustainable business practices and operate more responsibly in the long term. Qualified EUDR consulting helps to meet the regulation’s diverse requirements more efficiently and supports companies with transitions and reporting.
Which EUDR consulting is the right fit for your company depends on individual factors. In general, the benefits of reporting consulting can be narrowed down to these relevant aspects:
Professional EUDR consulting helps companies manage and fully implement the complex EUDR requirements. This significantly reduces the risk of legal sanctions, such as fines or trade restrictions. In addition, consulting helps not only to meet current requirements, but also to prepare for future legislative developments.
Consulting experts help companies analyze their supply chains and identify risks related to deforestation and forest degradation. This creates transparency and enables targeted, low-risk measures to improve sustainability.
With tried-and-tested methods and helpful reporting frameworks, EUDR consultants can make compliance with the regulation simpler and more cost-effective. In the long term, this saves costs and achieves an efficient reporting workflow.
Companies that respond proactively to the EUDR and start implementing the required measures in good time position themselves as responsible market players. This strengthens their brand and can have a positive impact on customers, investors, and business partners. EUDR consulting helps to put together the best strategy for your company as well as strengthen and build a positive image with regard to sustainability efforts.
Especially with regard to the EUDR requirements for importers or a high number of EUDR-relevant suppliers, it is advisable to have qualified consulting by your side from the start. This ensures that the processes and timelines for the first reporting are set up efficiently.
If you are starting implementation now, i.e., relatively late, you actually have the advantage that the right EUDR consultants have already “set many (mostly larger) clients on their way” and can bring this know-how from those projects to you.
The EUDR consulting market has completely reshaped itself over the past few months, and the quantitative supply has exploded. Many consultancies that actually specialize in entirely different areas are positioning themselves as supposed experts. But beware: EUDR comes with many requirements that “normal” ESG consultancies, CSRD consultancies or auditors—for whom you may be the first EUDR client—cannot realistically deliver overnight.
The following points should be considered when selecting the EUDR consultancy that is right for you:
Working with an EUDR consultant is a process that will require some time and effort at the outset. That is why you should ask yourself how well the consultant fits your company and whether the points of contact work well together. Both sides benefit from this: on the one hand, consultants ensure that their services, recommendations, and proposals are implemented authentically. On the other hand, you gain the assurance that your company is being supported effectively and in a goal-oriented manner.
Most EUDR consulting services are usually replaced after a certain period of time by the functions of EUDR or ESG software. Ideally, the results of the consulting services are transferred into a suitable tool in order to better prepare recurring reporting and risk management for the transition.
Conversely, there is also the option of choosing a software provider that provides support with key process steps and offers general consulting services and workshops.
Which option is better suited for you depends on the complexity of the supply chain and your status: Are you an importer/first placer on the market or “only” a trader or operator? Do you have to manage 10 or 200 EUDR-relevant suppliers?
We are happy to give you a recommendation as to whether consulting or a tool right away makes more sense for you during the matching process.

Matchilla’s approach is brilliant: I no longer have to laboriously research consultancies and software providers and fight my way through countless comparison portals – the right providers come to me, so to speak – with just a few minutes of effort. The matching process saves us a lot of resources.

Finding suitable ESG service providers is easy and super fast via Matchilla. Getting in touch, formulating specifications, and after just a few days the results were there. This way we received information about providers we hadn’t even heard of before. Real added value.

With Matchilla, we can easily open ourselves up to impulses from new service providers that were previously outside our radar. Our search requirements are matched with a database, but the final suggestions are in the hands of the Matchilla team. The result: high quality and strong service!
The number of providers of services related to EUDR reporting has exploded recently. New and established consultancies, auditors, and law firms have been building up and offering their ESG expertise for months. This makes both researching the options and the selection process very complex.
We have already successfully carried out the structured matching process you go through with us for more than 700 companies (mid-sized businesses and corporations), and have essentially seen every use case. Through daily, personal conversations with ESG service providers, we have what is probably the best-maintained database in the German-speaking region. Specifically for EUDR, we conducted a Europe-wide research effort in both the consulting and software markets, segmenting the respective service providers by commodities and industries, among other things.
With this market overview and our personal expertise from customer conversations, we provide individual recommendations that save you research work and guide you to the right service provider through a structured process.
Matchilla’s service is free of charge, non-binding, and anonymized vis-à-vis the providers. The individual identification and provision of extensive background information to help you select the best consulting company is financed through the service providers’ platform fees. In general, we are not in any paid contractual relationship with you, and you can end the matching at any time without risk.
The Matchilla platform can even be used for an official tender for EUDR consulting. In addition to the existing information about providers on the Matchboard, you collect the corresponding offers directly on the Offerboard. Using the invite function, you then share all information not only with the plant manager or procurement, but optionally with all process stakeholders in the company.

With this approach, Matchilla creates an individual provider competition for your specific match request, making prices more comparable and negotiable for you. Procurement, your boss, and your own budget will all be happy about that!
Our selection process is based on an efficient interaction of data, algorithms, and a healthy dose of personal expertise. No Matchboard is released without one of our EUDR experts having added their input.
Think of Matchilla as a neutral sparring partner in this selection process. We want your company to use the services of the Matchilla platform for many more searches for service providers in the future. That’s why we’re strongly interested in ensuring that you not only have access to an excellent procurement process, but also ALWAYS find the best possible providers through us.
Simply start by filling out the Match Assistant for EUDR consulting. This gives us an initial insight into your requirements. If you already have a catalog of criteria, you can also upload it directly on the Matchilla platform. We will get in touch with you personally if further specifications are needed. The more detailed the selection criteria we have, the more precise the matching will be with the tool providers most relevant to you.
Already curious about the results? Then let’s go! We’re looking forward to matching with you!
